English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are facing a race against time to get their new stadium ready, according to reports. The stadium is expected to be ready for the start of the new season but the latest pictures of the site shows they could be behind schedule.
The latest photographs do not show that the over 61,000 capacity will be ready for August 2018. With Spurs currently playing at Wembley and not enjoying as much fortunes, if the new home is not ready before the expected date, the club would need to ask for dispensation for away games in the first few weeks of the new season while finishing touches are rounded off. Liverpool did something similar last term as the rebuilding plans of the main stand at Anfield were yet to be completed. Same with West Ham United this term as they had to delay home games as their London Stadium home was employed for the World Athletics Championships.
While Spurs have been decent in their displays this season so far, so much more is expected of them. Dele Alli seems to have relaxed this term so the prolific and consistent Harry Kane has been carrying the whole team. Tottenham Hotspur are still among the top four ranked sides in the English Premier League so far – meaning their performances are within expectations, though not quite at the heady heights of last season, when they were the main challengers for the tile alongside Chelsea.
Indeed, one Sports Betting Portal made them the joint favourites to be pushing for the title this season, but by the looks of it the Stadium changes have put paid to those aspirations, with both Manchester clubs running away from the rest of the chasing pack. The side started well with a 2-0 victory away at Newcastle United before slipping against defending champs Chelsea at home in the second week of the season. They played a 1-1 draw against Burnley before finding their form against struggling Everton side, thumping them 3-0 at Goodison Park.
Spurs are hoping to do better in Europe this term. They started well against Borussia Dortmund as they won 3-1 at Wembley. Following their victory in the Cup game, they continued the top form against the Hammers, winning away from home. They continued very well against Apoel and they defeated Huddersfield away 4-0 with Kane ending September on a spectacular note. And it earned him the Player of the Month award.
Following the international break, Spurs defeated struggling Bournemouth 1-0 to remain in the top three spot on the log. They are five points from Pep Guardiola and his men that have been on a rampage, scoring goals at will. Spurs are three points behind Jose Mourinho’s men, who are in the second spot as their goals gradually dry up.
Watford, Chelsea and Arsenal make up the top six as the league remains unpredictable. Spurs are expected to end the first half of the season in the top four and City expected to continue their lead until then as well.
