Confessions of a Stadia-holic
When I was a kid I went to the original Wembley Stadium and was blown away by the sheer size and scale of it. I wish I’d had a chance to see it when it was standing-only, and over 110,000 crammed into the terraces – it must have been quite a sight!
Over the following few years I managed to tick off 52 of the 92 Stadiums in the English Leagues – a lot of London clubs, but some forays up north to Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, amongst others (and I am still working on the rest!), but it’s fair to say that I have turned into a bit of a Stadium-holic!
This blog is about news and stadia developments which I think will be interesting to everyone who thinks that loves soccer stadia – for me, they are THE stand-out architecture of our generation, and potentially one of the few places where we head to in huge numbers to worship – the grand Cathedrals of our time, if you like.
