Spurs fans are excited at the prospect of moving to a new 60,000 seater stadium in the next few years.
The club has started work on this new stadium after recently receiving the Mayor’s approval. The project is expected to cost in the region of £400 million with some of the funds coming in as sponsorship. As the club start to challenge with Leicester City for the league title this season, many Spurs fans believe that this new stadium is essential if the club are to keep their place amongst the elite clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea.
The revenues from a stadium of similar capacity has helped Arsenal to sign world class players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Due to the substantially smaller White Hart Lane, the club have been at a serious disadvantage when it comes to competing against the best. Keen to change this trend, the club will be moving into this brand-new stadium at the start of the 2018 campaign. In the meantime, Spurs may have to play at a temporary home like the Wembley stadium. A few Spurs supporters also think that the new stadium will be a massive boost to the community.
Season ticket holders at Tottenham face a long line to get new tickets and this problem is expected to be solved to an extent following the move to the new ground.“I think it is brilliant. Now that the team is doing really well lately and we want to move into that elite bracket, of Arsenal and others, we need the revenue of a new stadium. The new ground will have the biggest single tier stand in the country, I think, so it looks really good,” said one of the Spurs supporters. “I like it. You need a stadium of 60,000 plus,” added another.
